One dies in 281 wreck

The city of Windthorst, Windthorst ISD and the Archer County Community are mourning the loss of a 17-year-old student.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the teenager died from a result of her injuries during a three-vehicle wreck near the Dollar General on U.S. 281 in Windthorst at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 17-year-old female was driving north on U.S. 281 in a 2019 Nissan Kicks and was slowing to make a left hand turn when the Nissan was struck from behind by a 2020 Ford F250 which failed to control its speed. The F250 was driven by Florencio Ramirez Garcia, 65, of Graham.
The rear-end crash caused the Nissan to be spun into oncoming traffic and was struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu that was traveling southbound.
The 17-year-old was United Regional Healthcare System where she was pronounced dead.
The crash remains under investigation by DPS.
Windthorst and Archer City High Schools announced it had cancelled the scheduled volleyball game between the two schools for Friday afternoon with reschedule date to be announced at a later date.
