Unofficial results: Runoff coming for commissioner pct. 2
Unofficial results from the March 1 Republican Primary shows incumbents Randy Jackson and Todd Herring as winners in the County Judge and Commissioner Pct. 4 races while Darin Wolf and Kurt Wolf are headed for a runoff election for the Commissioner Pct. 2 seat.
In the county judge race, incumbent Randy Jackson received 1,160 (62.17%) votes which held off challenger Greg Anderson who received 706 (37.83%) votes.
“I’m thankful for the people who got out and voted,” Jackson said. “We had a large voter turnout tonight and I appreciate their support.”
In the commissioner pct. 4 race, incumbent Todd Herring received 199 (54.52%) votes to beat challenger C.D. Lundy who received 166 (45.48%) votes.
“I’m thankful for everybody’s support,” Herring said. “If it holds true, I look forward to serving them for the next four years and maybe beyond that.”
In the commissioner pct. 2 race, incumbent Darin Wolf received 315 (49.76%) votes while top challenger Kurt Wolf received 205 (32.39%) votes while Mike Wadsworth received 113 (17.85%) votes. Because nobody received the majority of the votes Darin and Kurt Wolf appear to be headed for a runoff election on May 24.
Results will not be official until the votes are canvassed during the upcoming week.
Republican incumbents who ran unopposed and received 100% of the votes are County Clerk Karren Winter, County Treasurer P.A. Vieth, District Clerk Lori Rutledge, Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Joe Aulds, Justice of the Peace Pct. 2 Corky Scarbrough, Justice of the Peace Pct. 3 Robert Shawver, Justice of the Peace Pct. 4 Wayne Lindemann and Republican Party Chair Leslie Hash. Diana Patterson also will be elected to the unexpired term of County Constable Pct. 3.
Because the Republicans are not being challenged by Democrats in the November election, the winners of these elections will take office in January 2023.
Jerry Phillips will be the new Democratic Party Chair after running unopposed and receiving 100% of the votes.
The Republican Primary had 1,955 voters participate while the Democratic Primary had 90 voters participate.
