John Troy "Johnny" Phillips
John Troy “Johnny” Phillips, age 77, passed away Sunday, June 20, at his home in Wichita Falls.
Johnny was born on Jan uary 10, 1944, in Wichita Falls to the late James Vestal Phillips and Algia Viola Lee Phillips.
He worked as a barber for over 20 years. His favorite pastime was going fishing. He was also a very talented artist and enjoyed playing the guitar and researching his family’s genealogy.
Johnny is survived by his son Cody Phillips and grandsons Elijah, Harrison and Oliver Phillips; his brothers Ronald Phillips of Coldspring and Jerry Phillips of Archer City; and his sister Bonnie Sue Phillips Strain of Abilene. He was preceded in death by his brother Donald “Babe” Phillips of Wichita Falls.
A graveside service will be held at the Archer City Cemetery on Thursday, June 24, at 10 a.m. Rev. Silvia Wang of the First United Methodist Church will officiate.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Babe Phillips Memorial Scholarship fund at WFISD Foundation, P.O. Box 97533, Wichita Falls, Texas, 76307.
