Donald O. Crawford, 89, passed away on July 21.

He was born on April 21,1932 to John S.L. & Maude Williamson Crawford in Petrolia, Texas. After graduating from Archer City High School in 1949, Don attended Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas.

He served two years in the U.S. Army in Anchorage, Alaska.

In 1955 Don met and married his wife, Beth.

He began his career in the Insurance industry in the early 1960’s. Don and his family moved to Mid land in 1969 after working in the Abilene office for Blue Cross and Blue Shield.

Don was a living legacy and a giant in his industry. Through his agency, Don Crawford & Associates, he worked determinedly for the many individuals and businesses within the communities of West Texas and New Mexico for over fifty years. Don truly loved serving others and made many deep and long lasting friendships.

At the young age of 87, Don transitioned into retirement at a pace of his choosing.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren: Carly Crawford and Ryan Crawford and Daughter-In-Law Lisa Crawford.

Don is survived by his wife Beth, his daughter Donna and husband Brian Gillette, sons Alan and wife Lisa Crawford, and Bruce Crawford, daughter Brenda and husband Clifford Vinson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Robert Gillette and wife Brandie, Brandi Gillette, Amy Gillette, Trina Gillette, Chris Gillette, Ross Crawford and wife Cheryl, Autumn and husband Garrett Selph, Hannah Crawford, Alexia Bauer along with great-grandchildren Elexa Gillette, Paxton Gillette, Wyatt Crawford, Samantha Crawford, Kalob Pratt, Bella Pratt, and Charlotte Bauer.

A visitation was held from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27th at Ellis Funeral Home and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 30th at First Christian Church of Midland. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association.
