Colton Canada and Kassidy Marin were regional qualifiers last year with a second and sixth place finish in the district competition, respectively. Both are back this year to try to move up in the ranks of regional runners.

Canada, a senior, will make a last run at a chance to qualify for state competition. Marin, a sophomore, hopes to make a strong showing at the District 9-2A on Oct. 13 in Seymour with another regional qualifying run.

Other Lady Cat runners working toward a regional appearance on Oct. 25 are juniors, Rebecca Taggart and Jenny Smith; sophomores, Landri Payne and Kaydyn Richie; and freshman, Malia Jones. The girls will have experienced runners with a good chance of advancing to region as a team.

Canada and senior Prayze Pierce will compete as individuals as the only two Wildcat entrants in district competition.

Cross Country Coach Amy Huseman reported the hard work preparing for the opening meet on Sept. 8 is underway. Under Huseman’s guidance the cross country program has a bright future. At Meet the Wildcats night last Monday evening she introduced 15 seventh and eighth grade runners.
