Dorothy Cox
Dorothy Cox, age 80, of Archer City, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 14, at a Fort Worth hospital.
Services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at the Church of Christ of Archer City with Mr. Dan Reddick, minister, officiating. Interment followed in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 20.
Dorothy was born on April 25, 1941 in Dallas, to the late John Earl Hill and Lucinda Markum Hill.
She and Wayne Cox were married on May 28, 1989 in Fort Worth. He preceded her in death on Oct. 4, 2013.
Dorothy had worked in the restaurant business throughout her life and loved cooking and sharing food with her friends. She loved being outside and helping other people. She attended the Church of Christ in Archer City.
She is survived by two sons, Donnie Cox and James Cox, and his with Deann, both of Archer City, two daughters, Loretta Richey of Archer City, Gretta Veitenheimer, and her husband, Robert, of Windthorst, Texas, nine grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and her niece, Deanna Zaiontz-Madsen, and her husband, Russell, of Wichita Falls; and her dearest friend, Dorothy Carpenter.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Jodi, Josie, and Betty, two brothers, Joe and Marvin, and her dearest friend, Pat Buerger.
