Body

Patsy Lee Raynes Shawver Siegfried, 77, of Holliday, passed away on Monday, March 7, 2022.

The family will receive friends at a visitation from 6 until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9 at Lunn’s. Private family burial will precede a 3 p.m. Celebration of Life at First Baptist Church of Holliday on Thursday, March 10 with Mr. Kenny Bond, Mr. Jim Hackney and Bro. Dan Bullock officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home.

A daughter of the late Bob and Crystella Raynes, Patsy was the fourth of six children and was raised in Weinert, Texas. She graduated from Weinert High School in 1962 where she played basketball and ran track. Patsy married George Shawver on Aug. 27, 1964, in Stamford, and they remained together until his passing in 2007. On July 9, 2009, she married Steve Siegfried in Wichita Falls.

Patsy attended Mid-western University where she received a Bachelor of Education in 1967. Upon graduation, she began her career with Holliday ISD. Her love of education led her back to school later in life, and she completed her master’s degree from Texas Woman’s University in 1991.

Patsy taught elementary school within the HISD for 26 years, positively affecting the lives of the children who passed through her classroom. For the last 9 years of her educational career, she guided Holliday Elementary School as principal and mentor, not only to the students who walked its halls, but to the teachers who were fortunate enough to have called her boss, as well as friend. After a rewarding career spanning 35 years, Patsy retired in 2002.

Everyone who knew Patsy, knew she was far more than an educator. She was always in service to others, co-founding Country Campus Day Care with Paula Hall; being active in the Archer County Child Welfare Board; serving on the Board of the Holliday Senior Center and volunteering her time (over 2,000 hours) to surgery patients at United Regional Health Care System.

Along with her parents, Patsy was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert Raynes, Jr.; and her husband, George Shawver.

Patsy is survived by her husband, Stephen Siegfried of Holliday; daughters, Roberta Richardson and husband, Danny of Wichita Falls; and Jodi Shawver of Holliday; step-daughter, Lisa Siegfried of Mt. Vernon, Ohio; granddaughter, Arden Graves and husband, Brian of Keller; grandson, Gates Richardson of Evergreen, Colo.; her great-grandchildren, Sullivan and Shawver Graves of Keller; sisters, Roberta Jenkins of Haskell; Mary Nell Coltharp and husband, Don of Seymour; Dorothy Jones and husband, Jerry of Brownwood; Delores Stewart and husband, Ronnie of Munday; sister-in-law, Betty Raynes of Weinert; many well-loved nieces and nephews; and hundreds of students she lovingly referred to as her “kids”.

The family would like to thank the caregivers who gave unconditional support throughout Patsy’s final years-the doctors and nurses from Texas Oncology, Healing Hands and Solaris Hospice.
