Elwanda Stone
Elwanda Stone, 88 of Holliday, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 31. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 10, at the First Baptist Church in Holliday, with Pastor Darryl Sewell officiating.
Elwanda was born on Jan. 20, 1934 in Holliday to Jay Bee and Floy (Clark) Goble. Elwanda graduated from Holliday High School in 1951, where she was Miss HHS and Football Queen. After graduation she married the love of her life, J.L. “Hotshot” Stone on July 16, 1951. They had three sons, Steve, Greg, and Kyle.
Elwanda worked for the Holliday I.S.D. as secretary to the Ele mentary Principal for 37 years. She was loved by all who knew her, and she was a blessing to all the students that passed through Holliday Elementary. After retirement, she had more time to do the things she loved, Bridge, Dominos, Investment Club, attending the Teacher association luncheons, and watching all her Grandkids in their sports. One of her favorites was her 42 group at the Senior Citizens.
Besides her parents she is proceeded in death by her Brother Mike Goble and sister Jeannine Hodge. She is survived by her sons, Steve Stone of Edinburg; Greg Stone and wife Brenda of Holliday; Kyle Stone and wife Marla of Holliday; seven grandchildren, Casey Stone (Amie), Chris Stone (Jessica), Kelly Stone Gruntorad (Scott), Chad Stone (Sara), Leslee Stone Pennywell (Drew), Kylee Stone Morton (Dustin) and Dylan Stone (Mackayla; fifteen great grandchildren. Kayleigh, Emily, Nathalie Stone, Crockett, Bowen, Gus Stone, Ava Love and Hannah Gruntorad, Rich and Bella Stone, Wes and Addie Grace Pennywell, Kinsler, Lily, and Ally Morton; and a sister-in-law Judy Goble and many nieces and nephews.
Elwanda was a faithful member of First Baptist Church Holliday and the Alathean Sunday School Class.
We would like to thank Hospice of Wichita Falls for all their love and care, and Healing Hands for their care. We would also like to thank her special Angels that cared for her with Love and Compassion, Vyvyan Davis, Helen Slack, Mary Johnson and her sister Martha Shepherd.
