  Larry McMurtry, a native of Archer County and graduate of Archer City High School, passed away yesterday at the age of 84. A prolific writer whose honors included a Pulitzer Prize for fiction for Lonesome Dove, a shared Academy Award for the adapted screenplay of Brokeback Mountain (written with Diana Ossana) and the 2014 National Humanities Medal, McMurtry kept a home and his famous bookstore Booked Up in Archer City.
