Bobbie Carolyn (Gray) Curry
Bobbie Carolyn (Gray) Curry, 71, of Wichita Falls passed away Oct. 4, 2024, at Hospice of Wichita Falls after defeating breast cancer, but later battling metastatic stomach cancer.
The celebration of Bobbie’s life will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2024, at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home, 1317 9th St. Wichita Falls followed by a visitation reception with family and friends.
Bobbie was born Sept. 16, 1953, in Knox City, Texas, to Esther Faye (Betts) and Robert Howard Gray. Bobbie lived in Seymour and Munday during her early years, but she was an Electra Tiger through and through, graduating from Electra High School in 1972. Bobbie married the love of her life, James William “Dub” Curry on Jan. 6, 1973, at the First United Methodist Church of Electra during a severe snow and ice storm while Dub’s coworkers waved and cheered the couple from across the street at the Texas Highway Department’s Electra Maintenance Office.
Bobbie attended Vernon Regional Junior College, later owning and operating “Sugar & Spice” bakery with her best friend. Bobbie and Sandy served up handmade donuts, cinnamon rolls, cookies and custom cakes as they raised their children together. Bobbie and Dub welcomed their first child, Latisha Daye in 1976 and their second child, Jaron Wesley, in 1981.
In 1987, Bobbie and Dub moved their family of four to Archer City. Bobbie obtained her pharmacy technician license at the Archer City Pharmacy, while operating “Bobbie’s Kitchen & Catering” serving Archer City and the surrounding communities with her famous homemade meals, baked goods and decorated cakes. Bobbie was a member of Scotland Baptist Church and a supportive football mom, band mom, theater mom and scout mom to Troop 100 of Archer City.
Upon retirement, Bobbie and Dub moved to Wichita Falls to be closer to and to help raise their grandbabies, who were the lights of her life. Her grandsons, Weston Curry, Grayson William, Wilton Bryant, Aaron Jace and Christopher William, made her so proud, and they inspired her to create many custom desserts just for them, most memorably, Nonna’s Banonna Pie. Bobbie’s recipes will be published at BobbiesRecipes. com for all to enjoy for years to come.
Bobbie is now united with those who preceded her in death: her beloved son, Jaron Curry, her mother, Faye Dodson, and her brother, Lynn Gray.
Bobbie is survived by her husband of 51 years, Dub Curry; her daughter, Tish Beaver and son-inlaw Mike Beaver of Wichita Falls; her daughter-in-law, Jenifer Curry of Grandfield; five grandsons, Chris Beaver, Aaron Beaver, Wil Beaver, Grayson Eaves and Weston Eaves; a sister Karla Martin and brother-in-law, Curt of Granbury; a brother, Greg Gray and sister-inlaw, Andy of Gainesville; an uncle G.L. Betts of Quanah; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and loved ones.
Bobbie’s requested memorials to be made in her memory to Hospice of Wichita Falls 4909 Johnson Rd, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310, whose team cared for her so well and so lovingly in her final days with her family.
