Body

Diane Garlington, 68, of Archer City, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on March 9, 2026, surrounded by her family and the compassionate care of Healing Hands Hospice.

Diane was born on Feb. 25, 1958, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to C.W. “Blackie” Sanders and Inez Sanders. She grew up in Holliday, Texas, where she graduated in 1976. Diane dedicated many years of her life working at Archer City Elementary School, where she loved being around the children and watching them grow. Her kindness, patience, and warm heart made a lasting impact on the many students and families she encountered during her time there. She retired after 28 years of service and then volunteered her time at the elementary.

Family meant everything to Diane. She especially loved spending time with her four grandchildren and supporting them in all of their activities. They were truly her pride and joy, and she treasured every moment she was able to spend with them.

Diane was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 33 years, Rickey Garlington; her father, C.W. “Blackie” Sanders, her sister, Susan Meyers; her brother-in-law, Dennis Meyers; and her brotherin-law, Jim Miller.

She is survived by her daughters, Heather Miller and husband Isaac of Archer City, and Ricka Willett and husband Blaine of Lakeside City. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Keegan and Harper Miller, and Ericka and Bailey Willett. She is also survived by her mother, Inez Sanders, siblings, Frances Miller; Coy Sanders and wife Sonya; Nancy Berend and husband Steve; and Paula Roberson, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who were like family to her.

In accordance with Diane’s wishes, a celebration of life will be held on April 3rd from 5-7 p.m. at the Royal Theatre in Archer City. Diane did not want anything sad but instead wanted a time where family and friends could come together to share memories, laughter, and celebrate her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Archer City ISD Education Foundation in memory of Diane Garlington. Donations may be mailed to P.O. Box 66, Archer City, TX 76351, or dropped off at the Archer City ISD Administration Office. Diane will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on through the many lives she touched.
