Evelyn Green
Evelyn Green, 93, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2026, surrounded by her family, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength, boundless creativity, and deep abiding faith in our Lord.
Born on July 24, 1932, she was the daughter of Alfred and Pauline Berend (Hoff). As the eldest of nine children, Evelyn walked through life with a gentle, humble grace, rarely seeking the spotlight yet always illuminating the lives of those around her. Her hands were rarely still—whether she was gardening, baking bread, sewing, or playing the piano, she found a way to turn the ordinary into something beautiful. Some of her favorite activities were camping and hiking in our Colorado mountains, ski outings with kids and grandkids, and simply enjoying God’s beautiful outdoors.
She was the safe, non-judgemental light for her family, always there with a listening ear and unconditional support. Yet, those who knew her well recognized her independence and her brilliant smile and that made her truly unique. She was kind, and recognized the good in every person she met; she was strong, yet deeply devoted to helping others. She taught us how to stand on our own two feet while holding a hand out to those in need.
Evelyn is survived by her spouse of 73 years, Jim Green, her children, Jim Jr. (Chris Green), Mary (Randy Bird), Mike, Lisa (Jim McCormick), Mark (Debbie Green), Deanne (Kent Davies), David, (Nina Green), Don (Beth Green), Rob (Megan Green); her grandchildren, Erin, Ryan, Ross, Luke, Kacey, Kelli, Austin, Logan, Ali, Calvin, Colton, Beau, Adam, Deborah, Emily, Angela, Gabby, Garrett, Olivia and Spencer; her great grandchildren, Liam, Owen, Hannah, Harlow, Henley, Emmett, Meyer and Carter and her beloved siblings, Stella Hoffman (Bill), Clara Veitenheimer (Ralph), Gloria Schroeder (Bud), Carmelita Richardson (Frank and Claudie), Walter Berend (Mary) and Kenny Berend(Karen). She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Alfred Jr. and Lenny. She also leaves behind the beloved Green family with innumerable nieces and nephews who will miss her.
Her life was a beautiful tapestry of thoughtful gestures, from her hand-written notes, her volunteer work, her reading to the grandkids and great grandkids, and her precious one-on-one conversations with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her family and many loving friends will miss her quiet wisdom, her beautiful smile, and her ability to make any space feel like home.
A celebration of her life will be held on April 24 at Nativity Catholic Church with the Rosary and Mass starting at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Evelyn’s favorite charities or to one of your own (Habitat for Humanity and Catholic Charities) “She lived well, smiled often, and loved deeply.”
