Fidelis Joseph (Joe) Loran

Fidelis Joseph (Joe) Loran, 74, passed away May 28, 2026 in Wichita Falls. He was born June 23, 1951, in Knox City, Texas to Fidelis Jacob and Agnes Redder Loran. Joe grew up in Rhineland, graduated from Munday High School, Cisco Junior College and the University of Arkansas Fayetteville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture (animal science). He took additional studies in science and chemistry at Midwestern State University.

Mr. Loran served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany and then spent several years in monastic study at Subiaco Abbey in Subiaco, Arkansas. He retired from the Windthorst Independent School District.

A rosary will be recited Wednesday, June 3, 10:30 a.m. at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Rhineland. Funeral mass will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will be at the St Joseph's Catholic Cemetery under the direction of McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Robert and James. He is survived by siblings Michael Loran (Cathy), Rita Mooney (Ray), Joan Atchley (Charlie), Julia Oechsner (Nat), John Loran (Gina) Chris Brooking (Tom), Marquita Brooking (Eric), Anthony Loran (Christine), sister-in-law Jimmie Sue Loran and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and cherished friends.

Memorials may be made to the Scotland Volunteer Fire Department, Hospice of Wichita Falls, or a local food bank.
