James A. 'Jim' Baumhardt
James A. “Jim” Baumhardt, 84, of Wichita Falls, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024 at Hospice of Wichita Falls surrounded by his favorite girls. Jim was born on Oct. 15, 1939 in Archer City, Texas to August Paul Baumhardt and Ida Hoffman Baumhardt.
A rosary and vigil service began at 6 p.m. followed by a family visitation until 8 p.m. Monday, May 20, 2024 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Boniface Cemetery in Scotland under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home in Wichita Falls.
Jim graduated High School from Windthorst ISD, where he earned a Baseball Scholarship and pursued his education at University of Dallas and Midwestern University. Jim married the love of his life, Margie Schreiber, on Sept. 7, 1960 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst, Texas. They enjoyed 63 years of marriage along with 3 wonderful children.
Jim was a longtime active member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church. He began a career in banking at City National Bank and retired after 34 years from the Bank of America. In retirement, Jim enjoyed working on his farm the “Circle B” there he hosted many dove and quail hunts and cookouts for his family and friends. He also loved supporting his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. He loved spending endless hours working in his yard, passing this working love to his daughter, Kristi. Jim couldn’t be counted out when a hand or two of Black Jack were dealt. He was known as Papa to his grandkids, who he so dearly loved and aggravated with joy. Papa (“Mr. B”) will always hold a place in their hearts and will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Darin Baumhardt; four brothers, Gus, Bill, Erwin, and Virgil Baumhardt; his sister, Eleanor Frerich; his brothers-in-law, Herman Frerich and Edward Schroeder; and sister-inlaw, Betty Baumhardt.
He is survived by his wife, Margie Baumhardt; his daughters, Kim Baumhardt Brunk (Sean), and Kristi Baumhardt; his grandchildren, Tiffani Moer Rivers (Louis), Jake Moer, Justin Moer, and Kelli Brumbelow (Brendt); eight great-grandchildren, Jace, Jordon and Jaxon Moer, Tucker and Layla Hrncirik, Cash and Jenne Rivers, and Brison Brumbelow; one great-great granddaughter, Oaklee Anne Moer; his sister, Ida Mae Schroeder; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
The family would like to thank all of the many nurses and attendants that helped Jim in his time of need.
