James Key Adams, age 88, of Athens, formerly of Archer City, passed away on June 17, in Athens.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, at the First Baptist Church of Archer City with Roger Deerinwater of Archer City officiating. Military gravesite will follow in the Archer City Cemetery.

James was born April 28, 1932 to the late Joseph Washington Adams and Ida Key Adams in Archer City.

He graduated from Archer City High School and attended Midwestern University in Wichita Falls.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954 where he was a Corporal.

On Jan. 27, 1959, James married Tiny Oliver in Wichita Falls. After thirty years of marriage, she preceded him in death on July 26, 1989. On March 7, 1990, he married Patsy Pryor in Olney, and resided in Archer City until May 2019.

James was a custom boot maker for many years. He was co-owner and operator with his brother of Adams Dixon Boot Company in Wichita Falls. He later opened up ABC Boot Repair in Archer City. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Archer City since Aug. 30, 1959 when he moved his letter from Holliday.

Survivors include his wife, Patsy Adams, of Athens; son, Bobby Adams of Archer City; daughter, Jamie Bass and husband, Norman of LaRue; grandson, Dustin Joseph Adams and wife, Amber; granddaughter, Rachel Reynolds and husband, T.J.; great-granddaughters, Mallori Moody, Hadley Adams; Savanah Grace Reynolds; great-grandson, Anderson Garrett Adams, Kason Jack Reynolds, Kruz David Reynolds

He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Mattie Joe Adams, and Ina Adams Tabor and his brother, Carl Weldon Adams.
