Les Coates, age 85, of Wichita Falls, passed away Thursday, May 12, at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 21, at First Baptist Church of Archer City with Chad Stubblefield officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Les was born Sept. 19, 1936 in Boggy Depot, Okla. to the late Ernest Dwight Coates and Donnie Mae Maise Coates.

He has been a resident of Texas since 1969.

Les owned and operated his own concrete construction business, Double C Concrete, in Wichita Falls throughout his life. He love spending time in the outdoors. Les was an avid hunter and loved working with any type of hunting dog. He was a man of few words, but could easily convey his feelings through his hands and actions. Les was very involved in his grandchildren’s lives and never missed their school activities. He very much loved playing cards with friends and family.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Coates of Wichita Falls; five children, Bart Coates and Bret Coates and wife, Jeannie both of La Junta, Colo.; Leslie Schauvlige and husband, Kenny of Grove, Colo.; Bud Coates and wife, Shanan of Archer City and Lonnie Coates and Frank Santoro of Southampton, NY; one brother, Dwight Coates and wife, Nancy of Atoka, Okla.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, Wichita Falls, Texas 76310.
