Mark Gerald Schroeder, 52, of Wichita Falls, Texas, died on Tuesday, April 16, 2024.

A wake service and rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 19, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst. The celebration of Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

The son of Gerald H. “Jerry” Schroeder and Mary Ann Eltife Schroeder, he was born on Sept. 9, 1971, in Wichita Falls and grew up in WindthorstHe graduated from Subiaco Academy, a private Catholic school in Subiaco, AR, in 1990. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Management Information Systems (MIS) specialization and later his Master of Business Administration with an MIS specialization from Wayland Baptist University. He was known as a hard worker and serious student by his classmates and teachers. He was a great friend and was always down for a good time, especially if that good time involved music.

With a larger-than-life personality, he lived life to the fullest and showed all of his friends and family how to achieve the possible when faced with impossible odds. After becoming a quadriplegic from a diving accident at the age of 19, he doubled down on his determination to accomplish all that he could and refused to admit he couldn’t do something. He held many Microsoft certifications and utilized those skills working for NCR Atleos, US Bank, GE Financial, Zales/Signet Jewelers, and as a contractor for many years at Sheppard Air Force Base. He was a loyal supporter of anyone who served in our nation’s armed forces. Mark inherited the love of teaching from his mom, and in his “spare time”, taught college level computer classes previously at Vernon College and currently at the University of Maryland and Western Governors University. He was also appointed by the Governor of Texas to serve on the Department of Assistive & Rehabilitive Services to advocate for people with disabilities in our state. Mark mentored many people who suffered life changing events.

Mark’s favorite past times included raising his Border Collies, playing poker with his friends, listening to country music (and singing along), rooting for the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his family. For a while, he was a DJ and loved providing music for special events around the area.

He is preceded in death by his father, Gerald, and his grandparents Jude and Stella Schroeder of Windthorst and Sam and Eugenie Eltife of Tyler. He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Schroeder of Windthorst; his sister Sandy and husband Jim Thomas of Electra; his brother Matthew and wife Becky Schroeder of Wichita Falls; and his sister Susan and husband Paul Mussachio of McKinney. He leaves behind three nieces, Lauren and Kelsey Thomas and Sophie Mussachio and two nephews, Caleb and Joshua Mussachio. They all loved their Uncle Mark.

He was a faithful follower of our Savior, and we take consolation in knowing he is with his dad in heaven and has received his full healing as only Jesus can provide.

Mark will be missed by many as he touched countless lives. Enjoy your favorite country song in his honor as we remember his life and legacy.
