Paul Hill

Paul was born Aug. 15, 1937, in Mountain View, Okla. to Robert andEster Hill.

His parents moved to Hobart, Okla. when Paul was 3 years old. His dad owned and operated the local Texaco Gas Station in Hobart and Paul helped out at the station throughout his youth. He graduated from Hobart High School in 1955. Paul married Carroll Laverne Geist on Jan. 5, 1958 and they made their home in Wellington, Kan. for 3 years, then settled in Caldwell, Kan. where they lived for 28 years and raised their family. Paul was transferred by Union Pacific to Missouri in 1989 where they lived for 10 years. Paul retired from the railroad in 1999 and moved to Archer City, where they have lived for the last 22 years.

Paul was a devoted husband and father and loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who fondly referred to him as “Grampy” or “Grumpy” on occasion. He always had a piece of candy or a coin in his pocket ready for his kids. Paul enjoyed breaking colts, building trailers at the Bullmobile factory in Caldwell, working on cars with his best friend Bud Orton in Corbin and square dancing with Carroll. He also enjoyed taking his family on vacations to Colorado and to the Salt Plains of Oklahoma where they would camp out in their stock trailer. In his retirement years, Paul enjoyed breakfast daily at the local café with his group of friends and spending time with his grand kids and great grand kids. Paul was an avid sports fan and loved all sports, he loved to take the grands to Cardinals games when they visited in Missouri. He also loved to watch his grands playing sports in school and his great grands playing softball. He was a man of few words, but made them count. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

Paul passed away on Friday, Sept. 10, 2021 at Wichita Falls, he was 84 years old.

Paul is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carroll Hill, three sons, Greg Hill, Caldwell, Kan., Travis Hill & wife Joyce of Archer City, and Jason Hill, Phoenix, Ariz., grandchildren, Kasha Hill Moody and husband Josh, Weatherford, Latigo Hill & wife Taylor, Wichita Falls. Five great grandchildren, Shaelyn, Laiken, Lainey, Blakeley & Brooks Moody, Weatherford. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Ester Hill, sister, Glenda Davis, brothers Merle Hill and John Hill.

A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday March 12 at 1 p.m. at the Archer City Service Center. Come share your memories!
