Richard Earl Browning, age 79, of Archer City, passed away Friday, Feb. 9, 2024, in Hospice of Wichita Falls.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 13, in the Chapel of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City with Jon Curry, Pastor of Grace Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 12, at Aulds Funeral Home.

Richard was born May 14, 1944 in Olney, to the late Earl Prentice Browning and Jessie Lee Warren Browning. He attended Archer City High School.

Richard worked for Megargel Drilling Company for several years. He was a truck driver for a few years and then worked for Wayne Browning Drilling Company and Big Giant Drilling Company.

Richard was a member of the First Baptist Church and also was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle. Richard loved his fur babies and his bird, Charlie.

Survivors include one son, James Wayne Browning and wife, Amber of Archer County; sister-in-law, Mary Browning of Archer City; three grandchildren, Hope, Justin and Morgan Browning of Archer County; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend and significant other, Peggy Hicks of Archer City.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Browning on August 30, 2010 and sister, Dorothy Taylor on Dec. 1, 2020.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Huffman, Tommy Hulse, Michael Lowack, Dusty McCord, Matthew McNair and Mike McNair. Honorary pallbearers are Doyle Coleman and Bobby McNair.
