Sherry “Shorty” Stanford Pippin, age 83, of Archer City, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, at an Olney hospital.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 18, at Aulds Funeral Home with Roger Deerinwater of Archer City officiating. Interment followed in the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.

The family received friends from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Sherry was born Nov. 16, 1937 in Olney to the late J.B. Hall and Willie Anna Wells Hall.

She and Dorwin L.“Dag” Stanford were married Jan. 13, 1965 in Archer City. He preceded her in death on Oct. 18, 1992. She then married P.L. Pippin on Nov. 29, 2000 in Decatur. He preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 2013.

Shorty had been employed at the Archer City Hospital where she was a nurse’s aide. She then worked for McWhorter’s Grocery Store for many years.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Archer City. Shorty enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, game shows and weekly card games with her sister.

Survivors include her twin sons, Dusty McCord and wife, Sonya and Rusty McCord and wife, Lisa all of Archer City; daughter, Phyllis Shoemaker and husband, Paul of Dean; five step-children, Denise Cato and husband, Travis of Chillicothe, James Pippin and wife, Shirley of Graham, and Brad Pippin and wife, Lynne of Lansing, Kansas, Debby Howell and husband, Eddie and Alton Stanford and wife, Kim all of Oklaunion; sister, Barbara Walker of Olney; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by step-daughter, Vicki Lacy in December 1992.
