Wayne “Butch” Humpert, age 86, lifelong resident of Windthorst, passed away June 29, 2023, in Wichita Falls.

Vigil Service and Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 30, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Windthorst. Mass will be celebrated at 10a.m. Saturday, July 1, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend Michael Moloney, OFS, Pastor of St. Mary’s and St. Boniface Catholic Church, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Butch was born June 4, 1937, in Windthorst to the late George Leonard Humpert and Lucy Mary Zihlman Humpert. He graduated from Windthorst High School.

He and Patricia Schroeder were married June 16, 1959, in Windthorst. They recently celebrated their sixty-fourth anniversary. He also honorably served his country in the United States Army while stationed in Korea.

After his tour of duty, he worked in construction, cement work, truck driving and welding. He also enjoyed building things for the Windthorst Community, Catholic Parish, and his family. Some of his favorite hobbies include watching sports, bowling, playing cards, and relaxing in his recliner.

Butch served on the Windthorst ISD School Board, Cemetery Board and the Windthorst City Council. He was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knight of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Pat of Wichita Falls; one son, Gary Humpert of Wichita Falls; two daughters, Connie Rhodes and husband, Troy of Round Rock and Karen Moisant of Wichita Falls; two sisters, Angie Berend of Windthorst and Margie Fraizer of Wichita Falls; nine grandchildren, Kristen, Hayley, Allen, Jason, Carlon, Marcus, Nathaniel, Kaden and Peyton; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Bill, Ian and Ellie.

He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Harold, Floyd, Royce and George Jr. Humpert; and one sister, Rosemary Schroeder.

Serving as pallbearers will be Butch Schroeder, Allen Rhodes, Carlon Moisant, Marcus Moisant, Jason Rhodes, Nathaniel Moisant, Kaden Moisant and Peyton Moisant.
