Wayne Douglas Eckstine, 85, of Westminster, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 8 Born on Feb. 1, 1940, in Wichita Falls and raised in Archer City, Wayne lived a life full of dedication, love, and adventure. He earned his MBA from Texas Tech University, where he was a proud member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. In 1979, he made Colorado his home—a move that would lead him to meet the love of his life, Lola.

Together, Wayne and Lola built a beautiful life centered around family and shared passions. They enjoyed sailing on his boats, becoming charter members of the Salty Dog Sailing Club– which is still in existence today– skiing in the Rockies, and raising their children in a home filled with warmth and laughter. Wayne was an expert fisherman and avid historian about Colorado, Texas, barbecue, and genealogy. He spent most of his professional life as a commercial banker, achieving the distinguished designation of Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike with his integrity and expertise.

A man of deep character and quiet generosity, Wayne touched the lives of many. He had a playful sense of humor with a love of gadgets and puzzles. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Lola; siblings Lisa and Arthur; sons Kirk and Karl; stepsons Patrick, and Lucius, and stepdaughter Karen and spouses; grandchildren Lola Marie, Billy, Camilo, Madeline, Eleanor, Liam, Louie, Coleton and several great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by stepson William.

A visitation was held on Wednesday, May 14, from 7–9 p.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery. A Funeral Mass took place on Thursday, May 15, at 2 p.m., with burial to follow.
