Mallory Mooney, head softball coach for the Archer City Lady Cat softball team, is currently facing scary health issues and the Lady Cats’ coaching staff is coming together to help her.

As volleyball coach Krissa England explains in her post on the online GoFundMe fundraiser, “As we all know Coach Mooney has hit a rough patch with her health. Discovering a tumor on her ovary during a different 'routine' procedure kind of threw a wrench in her life. She recently had surgery to remove the tumor, her ovary, and her appendix. This resulted in some other unforeseen health issues requiring her to have to make two more trips to the ER. She still has some weeks to recover.”

England continues, “She is already so grateful to everyone who has been praying, providing meals, and giving gift bags, but unexpected medical bills are hard financially. This GoFundMe would be a huge step in helping her get back on her feet. Thank you to everyone who feels led to donate, and if you cannot donate prayers are always appreciated. We are not out of the woods just yet. Pathology reports have not come back to officially rule out cancer so keep the prayers coming. Thank you all!”

Mooney has amassed a record of 157-55 in her 8 years at Archer City. In that time her teams have appeared in a state semifinal and three regional finals. As a first coaching job after graduating from Midwestern State University, she has made the most of her time at Archer City High School. Not only as a coach but also as a friend of students and fellow coaches.

She graduated from MSU Texas in 2012. She played third base for the Mustangs for four years with numerous honors from the Lone Star Conference and the National Fast Pitch Coaches Association.
