The Trojans finished fourth last year in District 9-2A.

Head Track Coach Daniel Cole said, “The goal is to move up the ladder in the district point totals and possibly compete for a title, however, numbers will hold us back some.”

To move up in the point standings the Trojans will rely on a stable of hurdlers. Logan Cope a junior, Moises Cruz the sole senior on the squad, and promising freshman Carson Anderle should be able to rack up some points in the hurdles. Cruz was a transfer last year and unable to compete at the varsity level, but he posted one of the top 10 times in the area running in junior varsity events. Cope was a fifth place finisher last year in the high jump.

After a productive cross country season, freshman Nolan Schreiber should be up front in the 1600 meter and 3200 meter runs. In a warm up meet in Windthorst with Archer City, Seymour, and Electra he easily won both events.

Cole said, “We have strong runners and jumpers, but not a lot of sprinters or throwers.”

Given that strength Cole feels the Trojans will be very competitive in 4x400 relay. He is currently working on getting team members placed in the right events to best benefit the team.

Triple jumpers Kolby Teakell, Landon McClemore, and last year’s Area qualifier Brayden Berend should contribute to the Trojan point total. McLemore advanced to the Area meet in the 200 meter and 400 meter races. Brayden Berend was also an Area qualifier in the long jump.

The District 9-2A meet will be in Petrolia this year on Friday, April 8.
