Eleven Archer County nonprofit organizations are participating in the 24-county area fundraising program Texoma Gives, which kicks off at 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, with donations able to be given before the event.
The Archer County Commissioner’s Court and Archer City Council reached an agreement to split the $500,000 bill for American Medical Response to cover Archer City, Scotland, Windthorst and the unincorporated county areas around the towns during a joint meeting on Friday, Aug. 25.
The Sheriff’s Office received 143 calls for service this past week. As this report is being written there are 27 inmates and 1 being female in the Archer County Jail.

He was a man of action. He encouraged, organized, managed and rather than just talk about a problem, he prayed for God’s help to solve the problem.
Cherrie Ann Knox Byrd, age 85, of Bixby, Okla., formerly of Archer City, passed away Friday, Aug. 25, at 6:20 p.m. in St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Okla. after a month long stay with heart and kidney problems.
