The Archer City Country Club recently had two players hit a hole in one on the course. Jimmy Davis (top) hit his first ever hole in one on hole #1 on Labor Day at 8:15 a.m. Witnesses were Llyod Wells and David Eispanner. Mitchell Roberts (bottom) hit a hole in one on Hole #8, which is 184 yards, on Oct. 10 at 3:56 p.m. Witnesses were Kyle Wyatt, Mike Coker and Jeff Forester.

Lady Cats outlast Windthorst to take over top spot in District 9-2A

As just about everyone expected, the District 9-2A clash between Archer City and Windthorst lived up to the hype. In a showdown of the district’s top two squads, the Lady Cats (14-4, 7-0) outlasted the Trojanettes (8-13, 4-1) in a five-set thriller, 3-2 (25-23, 14-25, 21-25, 25-17, 15-10) on Tuesday, Oct. 13, in Archer City.

The Lady Cats pushed their winning streak to double-digits while snapping the Trojanettes six-match run. Both teams have two more matches before a rematch on Saturday, Oct. 24, in the regular season finale.

Archer County Sheriff’s Weekly Report

The Sheriff’s Office received 121 Calls for Service during the past seven day period ending Sunday, Oct. 11. On the day of this report there were 25 individuals incarcerated in the Archer County Jail consisting of 23 men and two women. 30 individuals consisting of 18 men and 12 women were arrested and booked into the Archer County Jail during the month of September, 2020.

Archer County COVID-19 update

Archer County Judge Randy Jackson announced the county had 98 positive cases with five of them being active as of Tuesday, Oct 13. The county also has reported one COVID-19 related fatality.

Holliday ISD discusses COVID-19 close contact protocol

The Holliday ISD School board and Superintendent Cody Carrol discussed the decision to quarantine the high school band and varsity football team starting on Friday, Oct. 9, and the district’s plan for the situation during its board meeting Monday, Oct. 12.

Holliday Council votes to protect students

Traffic and pedestrian traffic congestion in and around the 600 Block of S. College Avenue during pick-up and drop-off times in front of Holliday Elementary School has created a serious safety hazard for school children, teachers and parents, according to the district. The situation warranted action on an ordinance by the Holliday City Council on Monday, Oct. 12.
