None of the six candidates got a clear majority of votes for the Senate District 30 unexpired term of Pat Fallon. Shelley Luther and Drew Springer garnered enough votes to face each other in a special runoff election. Governor Greg Abbott issued a proclamation on Oct.10 setting the date for the runoff on Saturday, Dec. 19. Early voting in this winner take all matchup begins Dec. 9.
