Organization raises funds to feed Holliday families

The Holliday Senior Citizens Organization is raising funds this year with a Thanksgiving meal and smoked ham sales. The organization uses guidelines established by the Wichita Falls Area Food Bank to provide free meals to qualifying low-income families.

Santa Letters and Christmas Picture Contest

This year, in addition to Santa Letters, we will have a Christmas picture contest.

  • We welcome all students in PK-3 to participate in Santa Letters for publication to the Archer County News. Letters will be published December 17 in our special edition. You can assure students we promptly send the letters to Santa as well.

  • All students in PK-3 also may participate in the Christmas picture contest. See rules below.

Zellers, Holliday block Brownfield to move on to regional finals

Bree Zellers was nearly unstoppable, collecting a team-high 15 kills as the Holliday Lady Eagles upset No. 9 Brownfield in a 3-0 sweep (25-17, 25-20, 25-22) on Tuesday, Nov. 10, at Jim Ned High School in Tuscola.

“Bree was on-fire,” Holliday head coach Wendy Parker said. “She missed a few serves, but as far as everything else, she was lights out.”

The No. 7 Lady Eagles (24-4) meet top-ranked Bushland (27-2) in the regional finals on Saturday, Nov. 14, in Childress at 5:30.

The Windthorst ISD school board approved the purchase of a new school bus during its Monday, Nov. 9, meeting and will hold a public hearing on having seatbelts on the bus in its next meeting.
