The Sheriff’s Office received 67 calls for service last week. As this report is being written there were 21 inmates with three being female in the Archer County Jail.
Cameras located on 40 segments of roadways in the Wichita Falls TxDOT District will conduct traffic counts for the next 10 days. Each camera will be recording data for just 24 hours per location.

It is taking 10-14 days for my Lindale News & Times newspaper to make it just 40 miles down the road. It is mailed in Smith County on Wednesdays and is supposed to be delivered to adjacent Upshur County on Thursday – the next-day Thursday, not Thursday a week or two from now.

Archer City’s Candace Taggart won the Conference 2A State Championship in News Writing. She won the event at the 2021 Academic Spring Meet Saturday, May 1. The Archer City Cemetery Foundation recently sent out requests for support from previous donors after finding itself low on funds to pay for maintenance and utilities. Most cemeteries that provide routine upkeep of the grounds charge an expensive plot fee, but in 1883 the cemetery land was donated to the citizens of the city by E.H.
