Benny E. (Bud) Fichte, age 85, passed away May 1, at Bluebonnet Point Wellness in Bullard. Graveside services will be at the Megargel, Texas Cemetery on Thursday May 6, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Harrell Braddock, Jr., pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Olney officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Things looked dire for Windthorst in both contests of its bi-district series against Lindsay. Archer City got a masterful pitching performance from Jill Liles to keep the Lady Cats’ season alive, tossing a one-hitter in game two to clinch the series. At the plate, the sophomore left her mark, going 5-for-8 with two runs and two RBI, driving in a crucial insurance run in the bottom of the fourth.

Tuesday, April 27 Petrolia 13, Archer City 7 Archer City was unable to overcome seven errors in a 13-7 loss to Petrolia. Justin Browning (5-5) was tagged with the loss, allowing eight runs (five earned) on seven hits with three walks and a strikeout over 3.0 innings of work.
