The Sheriff’s Office received 82 calls for service last week. As this report is being written there were 35 inmates with four being female in the Archer County Jail. 13 arrests were made this week 10 being felonies and three misdemeanors.
After a tremendous year on baseball and softball diamond for all three Archer County schools, I felt these athletes deserved a little extra recognition. With that said, I’m debuting the Archer County News Diamond Dozen. Every one of these athletes and their teammates deserve much more recognition and praise than I can give them. We had a great season with all three schools making the playoffs in both baseball and softball and I can’t wait to see what next year brings.
Archer City Athletic Director Shad Hanna had a big decision on his hands. With the resignation of head baseball coach Wayne Morris and girls assistant Mayson Morris (no relation), Hanna had a pair of positions to fill.
The Holliday ISD School Board met for its scheduled meeting on Monday, June 14, at the administration building. Michelle Box of Zonda Education provided a demographics study for the board “We did see a tiny bit of a slowdown in historical enrollment this year,” Box said.
Branded, the cast aluminum horse in Walsh Park, will be headed to get a new top coat on Friday, June 18. The horse is expected to be missing for about two weeks according to artist Kathy Morrison. File Photo
