The Archer County Judge placed an emergency burn ban in affect for the county on Monday, Sept. 20, after multiple large fires have occurred in the county this month.
Lee Alfredo Villapando, a suspect in the April 2020 murder of John Lewis Helms, was released from the Archer County Jail Thursday, Sept. 16, on a personal recognizance bond.
A gofundme and multiple fundraisers have been set up for Riplee Veitenheimer an Archer City one-year-old boy who has been hospitalized with Retinoblastoma which a form of eye cancer. Riplee, the son of Cody and Anya Veitenheimer, had two large tumors which covered three fourths of his left eye which has complete vision loss.

Isabelle and Whit Parkey competed at the West Texas Fair and Rodeo in Abilene. Isabelle brought home a 5th place with her Polled Hereford heifer, 3rd place with her Limousin heifer and 3rd place with her Brangus heifer. She also won JR Showmanship in both the Hereford and Brangus show. Whit earned 1st place with his Brangus heifer.

USDA Designates 13 Texas Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or the refinance of certain debts.
