USDA Designates 13 Texas Counties as Primary Natural Disaster Areas This Secretarial natural disaster designation allows the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Service Agency (FSA) to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or the refinance of certain debts.

The Texas Tech University System (TTU System) Board of Regents and Chancellor Tedd L. Mitchell, M.D., named a search committee Thursday (Sept. 16) to assist in finding the next president of Midwestern State University (MSU Texas).

Isabelle and Whit Parkey competed at the West Texas Fair and Rodeo in Abilene. Isabelle brought home a 5th place with her Polled Hereford heifer, 3rd place with her Limousin heifer and 3rd place with her Brangus heifer. She also won JR Showmanship in both the Hereford and Brangus show. Whit earned 1st place with his Brangus heifer.
