Lakeside City council approves work to start on new east side park

The city council of Lakeside City agreed to make a payment to Longo Landscape and Stone for $36,932.50 to begin work on a new park for the east side of the town during its meeting Tuesday, April 19. This money spent will create a pavilion with seating, parking spaces and a place to set playground equipment on the city owned lots at the intersection of Billie Joyce and Jo Ann.

Harold Berend

Harold Berend, age 91, passed away on Sunday, April 17, at St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita, Kan. Harold was born on July 2, 1930, in Archer City, to Anton and Eleanor Wachsman Berend. Harold was a farmer, rancher, and postmaster throughout his life. He had been a resident of Marienthal since 1954 having moved from Windthorst. He was a member of St. Mary Church of Marienthal where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a 4-H leader for 13 years. He was the girls' softball coach for the Knights of Columbus summer league and a Wichita County Amusement Association Volunteer.

Darlene Gayle Hayter

Darlene Gayle Hayter, age 81 of Megargel, passed away Friday, April 22, at United Regional Healthcare in Wichita Falls. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. Lewis Holland, officiating. Interment followed at Megargel Cemetery in Megargel. Arrangements were under the direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.
