A chance meeting in San Marcos at Cheatham Street Warehouse twenty years ago spawned a musical collaboration resulting in a recording session at the Royal Theater late in June. Joey Pogue, focusing on singing and songwriting after his retirement, called on his old acquaintance Levi Mullen to produce his project.

Windthorst ISD raises the cost of cafeteria lunch meals

The Windthorst ISD school board voted to raise the cost of cafeteria lunches to $3 during its board meeting on Monday, July 11. Because of help from the Texas Department of Agriculture during the pandemic, the district has been able to offer all students free meals for the past two school years.

Holliday City Council discusses ARPA funds

The Holliday City Council talked about the use of American Rescue Plan Act funds during its meeting Monday, July 11. Mayor Allen Moore said one of the possible uses for the funds could be to renovate the front office at city hall which could cost them around $50,000.

Texas game wardens wrap up another busy July Fourth weekend of statewide enforcement

As Texans hit the waterways across the state to recognize July Fourth, Texas Game Wardens were out in force to ensure everyone stayed safe on the water. “Texas Game Wardens partnered with thousands of law enforcement agencies across the country for Operation Dry Water to focus on impacts of alcohol on boaters during high-traffic weekends like July 4th,” said Cody Jones, Assistant Commander for Marine Enforcement with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
