The Holliday Lady Eagles are state champions. Holliday topped reigning champion Fairfield 5847 on Saturday in the Alamodome to win the school’s first championship game in school history.

The Holliday Lady Eagles are state champions.
Holliday topped reigning champion Fairfield 58-47 on Saturday in the Alamodome to win the school’s first championship game in school history.
“I’m ecstatic,” Lady Eagles head coach Derek Winn said. “I don’t think it’s set in just yet.”
Jalynn Bristow took home MVP honors after putting up 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting with 14 rebounds, two assists, three blocks and three steals.

Making its first appearance at the state tournament, Holliday looked every bit the part of title contenders. The Lady Eagles shell-shocked Columbus early on and coasted to the finish in a 59-40 win in the state semifinals.

I recall the words of Jesus, “I am the light of the world” (John 8:12). Later, He said to His disciples, “You are the light of the world” (Matthew 5:14). The inference is that the disciples are to share Christ’s light, a reflected light. Oh, how this dark world needs that light! That light is love – not merely in words but also in deeds.
