Monday morning waiting on the rain.The weather guys took our chances out for Monday so it looks like Tuesday now. We got some light rain Sunday. Just enough to wet the surface. Heard some thunder around noon but none at the house proper. This is the most excruciating part of gardening and agriculture in general. Waiting… When you need it desperately and the probabilities go above 50% we come to expect it. When we just get sprinkles we tend to blame the weather guys. However, it did rain in Texoma yesterday, it just didn’t make puddles, mud, or runoff. Not what we expected.

Fri., April 21 Holliday 7, Iowa Park 1 Holliday (24-4) added two runs apiece in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to blow open a 1-0 lead against Iowa Park to lock up the district championship. Layne Owen powered the offense, going 2-for-3 with a two-run bomb and a double.

Fri., April 21 Windthorst 17, Archer City 1 Windthorst (21-6) completed the season sweep of Archer City (1118) with a 17-1 run-rule win over the Lady Cats. Rylee Wolf, Keaira Fillingim and Bri Hoff each paced the Trojanettes with three hits with Wolf collecting a pair of doubles and Hoff driving in three runs.

The Windthorst Election Day location is a change from the Windthorst Knight of Columbus Hall as a wedding was already scheduled for the date. Election Day is Tuesday, May 6, and will run from 7 a.m.

Ronald Edward Willeford, age 82, of Olney, passed away Tuesday night, April 18, 2023, in Grace Care Center in Olney. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m.

Through the years, there have been times that a church member has commented to me about my sermon: “You were preaching right at me today.” I have usually followed up with the comment: “That Bible passage has been preaching to me all week as I prepared the message.” It was certainly true as I prepared to speak on 1 Corinthians 10:31 – “So, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

The Sheriff’s Office received 148 calls for service this past week. As this report is being written there are 30 inmates and 2 being female in the Archer County Jail.
