Body The Archer City Lady Cats saw their 2023 campaign come to a close in a pair of losses to Muenster on Thursday and Friday, April 27-28, in Era. The Lady Hornets won the opener 18-2 before finishing off the series 21-3.

Body Thurs., April 27 Windthorst 10, Anson 5 Windthorst (19-7-2) erased a 4-2 deficit with an eight-spot in the top of the fifth to grab the lead for good in a 10-5 win over Anson in a playoff tune-up game.

Body After winning the program’s first Region I-3A title a season ago, the Holliday Lady Eagles are on-top once again, winning the two-day track meet with 85 points at ACU on April 28-- 29.

Body It was a great day to be in blue at the Region II- 2A Track Meet on April 28-29 as Windthorst saw five advance to the 2023 UIL Track & Field State Meet.

Body Lindsay didn’t play as a typical No. 4 seed facing off against a heavy favorite in a bi-district series. Windthorst weathered the storm – both literally and figuratively – in its first round sweep of the Lady Knights.

Body Holliday breezed through its bi-district series against Breckenridge, sweeping the Lady Bucks 9-0 and 16-0, to set up a rematch of last year’s regional finals in the area round against Coahoma. The Lady Eagles and Bulldogettes meet in a one-game, winner-takeall matchup on Thurs.

Body My oldest son planted a tiny pine tree in our front yard many years ago. Now, that small sapling has grown into a beautiful tree well over fifteen feet tall. Looking at that tree reminds me of how the children of God grow.

Body The Archer Public Library is pleased to announce that we recently joined E-Read Texas! E-Read Texas is a program from the Texas State Library that provides over 17,000 e-books to our library.

Body The Sheriff’s Office received 181 calls for service this past week. As this report is being written there are 31 inmates and 3 being female in the Archer County Jail.
