It’s a story 81 years in the making. Holliday makes a return trip to the UIL State Basketball Tournament for the first time since 1943 and just the second time in school history following a dominant defensive run through the Region I-3A Tournament at Frenship High School on March 1-2.

Archer City Police Department has a second full-time officer for the first time in nearly half a year as Joshua Sosebee started in the position last month. Sosebee fills the position that was left vacant when Matt England left for another job in September of 2023.

Archer County Auditor Paul Wylie is set to retire from the position by the end of his term in June. The county auditor is responsible for working closely with the county treasurer to keep an eye on the county’s money.

Jerry David Owen, age 82, of Archer City, Texas passed away on Thursday, Feb. 29, 2024, in Wichita Falls.

A memorial and life celebration honoring Sonny Rux will be held at the Archer City Cemetary Pavilion on Saturday, March 9 at 11 a.m. Please join us as we honor Dad for his lifelong service to his family and country having retired from the US Navy after 20 years.

McAlister takes ownership of Aulds Funeral Home Matthew McAlister recently took ownership of Aulds Funeral Home in Archer City and Electra. McAlister is an Electra native and a 2007 graduate of Electra High School.

The Holliday Education Foundation, or HEF, was established to provide funding opportunities such as educational projects, grants for teachers, and scholarship opportunities to students of the Holliday ISD. To launch the new 501c3 organization, HEF initiated a Founding Legacy Donors Campaign.
