I have great memories of trips that our family has taken to the Gila National Forest in New Mexico. One of the things I enjoyed the most was taking four wheelers through the paths of the mountains to some amazing views. It just has a way of bringing some peace in a world that never slows down.

The Windthorst ISD school board approved the 2025-2026 school year calendar and a professional development day waiver for the calendar during its board meeting on Monday, Feb. 10.

Leonard John “Lenny” Berend, age 78, of Windthorst, passed away on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 30, 2025, in Wichita Falls surrounded by his family.

Steven Wesley Tredway, from Georgetown, Texas was a devoted husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, son, uncle, brother and friend passed away at home with his wife, sister and stepdaughter by his side, on Jan. 16, 2025 at the age of 67.

Ella Dora of Iowa Park, a member of Archer County 4-H, caught a calf during the 2025 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Calf Scramble, earning a $500 purchase certificate for a show heifer and the chance for up to $16,000 in scholarship awards. Dora is the daughter of Mark and Tara Dora.
