Recently, I have been working my way through what is considered to be Jesus’ greatest sermon ever preached - The Sermon on the Mount. Augustine called it a ‘perfect standard of the Christian life.’ It is an amazing read, and I would encourage you to take a few minutes to look through all of Matthew chapters 5 through 7. I felt compelled to share a portion of it with you today.

Eagles battle bitter rival Henrietta

The Holliday Eagles and the Henrietta Bearcats gave it their all in their district matchup on Tuesday, March 18 and Friday, March 21, culminating in a 1-1 series split. Tuesday, March 18 Holliday 2 Henrietta 1 It was a true defensive duel in the first meeting between the two, with just eight total hits between the teams.

Trojanettes start district 3-1

3 -1 After their 1-0 win over Seymour on Friday, March 14, the Trojanettes rattled off two more victories over district opponents last week to improve to 3-1 on the season. Tuesday, March 18 Petrolia 8 Windthorst 7 The week didn’t start out hot for the Trojanettes, as they dropped a close one to the Lady Pirates last Tuesday.

After run-filled, backand- forth battle between the Lady Eagles and the Lady Cats, bitter rival Henrietta snatched victory out of Holliday’s hands with a walk-off three-run homer to seal the series sweep on Thursday, March 20.

Truette homers in Wildcat win

The Archer City Wildcats split their first district series of the season, taking on the Petrolia Pirates on Tuesday, March 18 and Friday, March 21. Freshman shortstop Seth Truette showed early promise as he hit the team’s first home run of the season.

Archer City competes in Haskell Relays

The Archer City Lady Cats’ and Wildcats’ track and field teams travelled to Haskell on Thursday, March 20 to run and throw in the Haskell Relays. Sophomore Makaylee McCown took home a silver medal in the high jump after she hit a height of 4-8.

Trojans go 3 -1 to open district

The Trojans kicked off district play with a three-game win streak, drumming the Seymour Panthers 14-5 before completing the series shutout against the Olney Cubs by a combined 29-0. Tuesday, March 18 Windthorst 19 FF Seymour 0 Despite thumping the Panthers by nearly 20 runs, due to a player pitching before he was allowed to under the current UIL rules, the Trojans were forced to forfeit and receive a loss in the first district game of the year.
