Lady Eagles fall to walk-off

After run-filled, backand- forth battle between the Lady Eagles and the Lady Cats, bitter rival Henrietta snatched victory out of Holliday’s hands with a walk-off three-run homer to seal the series sweep on Thursday, March 20.

Truette homers in Wildcat win

The Archer City Wildcats split their first district series of the season, taking on the Petrolia Pirates on Tuesday, March 18 and Friday, March 21. Freshman shortstop Seth Truette showed early promise as he hit the team’s first home run of the season.

County issues burn ban

Body
Archer County Judge Randy Jackson declared a county-wide emergency burn ban on Wednesday, March 12, that will be in place for 10 days until March 22. The ban can be rescinded at an earlier date based on the determination of the Commissioner’s Court or County Judge.

Holliday city council updated on city park

The Holliday City Council were apprised of the issues of getting a new ladder for the playground equipment at the city park during its council meeting on Monday, March 17. Holliday Parks and Rec Committee member Hayden Hansen provided the update to council.

Kulhanek named new extension agent

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved the hiring of Kortney Kulhanek as the new Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent during its meeting on Monday, March 10. Kulhanek will be replacing the departed Paige McSpadden as the county’s new Ag and Natural Resources agent.

Holliday flies in Possum Kingdom Relays

Both the Holliday Lady Eagles and Eagles, along with some of the Windthorst Trojanettes travelled to Graham to compete in the Possum Kingdom Relays on Saturday, March 15. Holliday flourished in the meet, grabbing several top six finishes including gold medals from senior Breagan Blowers, junior Kenli Atwood, and sophomores Brayden Hamill and RC Albert.
