Harold Lee Garlington, age 96, of Archer City, passed away Wednesday, March 19, at Hospice of Wichita Falls. Graveside services were held at 2 p.m.

Archer County Judge Randy Jackson declared a county-wide emergency burn ban on Wednesday, March 12, that will be in place for 10 days until March 22. The ban can be rescinded at an earlier date based on the determination of the Commissioner’s Court or County Judge.

The Holliday City Council were apprised of the issues of getting a new ladder for the playground equipment at the city park during its council meeting on Monday, March 17. Holliday Parks and Rec Committee member Hayden Hansen provided the update to council.

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved the hiring of Kortney Kulhanek as the new Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Agent during its meeting on Monday, March 10. Kulhanek will be replacing the departed Paige McSpadden as the county’s new Ag and Natural Resources agent.

The Windthorst Trojans trekked up to Muenster to participate in the Highway 82 Classic from Thursday, March 13 to Saturday, March 15. The Trojans finished the tournament with a record of 2-4.
