Have you ever been through a season where it seemed like everything was not going as planned? Things often come into our lives suddenly and often unexpected. We all face challenges that are often out of our control such as health issues, changes in our family, career changes, tragedy and all sorts of things that can cause grief. If it goes on too long, we can find ourselves searching for hope.

Sandra Ann Morrison Huffman, of Northern Archer County passed away Saturday, April 5, 2025, in Wichita Falls at the age of 83. Services will be held at 10 a.m.

The Archer City Council approved lowering the price of the minimum bid of former Archer City Nursing Home located at 200 East Chestnut during its meeting on Thursday, March 27. The council had approved listing the former nursing home building for sale at a minimum price of $75,000 in January before approving lowering the price to $40,000 in its March meeting.

A group of community members presented their plans to create an Archer City Education Foundation nonprofit during the Archer City ISD School Board meeting Monday, March 24. A community group led by Mark Hilbers, Steven Schroeder and Karen Aulds were on hand to present to the school board.

The Holliday Eagles notched a pair of wins on Tuesday, March 25 and Friday, March 28 after suffocating the City View Mustangs 4-0 and 14-4 respectively. Tuesday, March 25 Holliday 4 City View 0 For the first game of the series, senior starting pitcher Michael Stewart went nuclear from the bump for the Eagles, amassing a miraculous 16 strikeouts in seven full innings.

After Archer City fell to the Panthers in walk-off fashion on Wednesday, March 26, the Wildcats stormed back with a vengeance, defending their home field and battering Seymour to improve to 2-2 in district.

Both the Holliday Relays in Seymour on Thursday, March 27. The Trojans dominated their competition, compiling total 144 points and beating the next closest team (Anson) by 45 points.

In Holliday’s first district double-header action of the season, the Lady Eagles thrashed the City View Lady Mustangs by a combined 29-1 on Tuesday, March 25. Holliday 13 City View 0 In the first game of the double-header, the Lady Eagles posted 15 total hits in the win.

The fight for the top spot in District 9-2A was always going to be tough. With three of the top teams from last year returning a majority of their roster, it is no surprise that each game has come down to who made the right plays at the right time. The game between the Archer City Lady Cats and the Windthorst Trojanettes on Saturday, March 29 was no different.
