Stark headlines ACN Elite 8

Archer County once again celebrated a successful year on the hardwood for the three high school teams. The Holliday Eagles made their way back to regionals, while the Trojans marked their first playoff win under head coach Dylan Stark. The Wildcats, equipped with just two returning starters, saw their younger talent make strides as the season went on.

Six earn FWSSR Calf Scramble Scholarships

Scholarships were recently awarded to members of the Archer County 4-H Club, Holliday FFA and Windthorst FFA by the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo’s Calf Scramble Scholarship Committee. The scholarships were awarded as follows: $12,000 – Brantley Humpert, son of Misty Wolf $12,000 – Daniel Brenlen Humpert, son of Misty Wolf $12,000 - Cate Deges, daughter of Alicia and Chris Deges $10,000 - Ben Miller, son of Karie and Jeff Miller $10,000 – Whit Parkey, son of Vanessa and David Parkey $10,000 - Colby Vieth, son of Darla and Brian Vieth These students participated in the 2024 Fort Worth Stock Show Calf Scramble program making them eligible for the scholarship program. Forty-nine Texas 4-H and FFA members shared in $452,000 in Calf Scramble scholarship dollars.

Courthouse nears sewer project completion

Sewer line repairs at the Archer County Courthouse are nearing completion following a leak which closed some county offices for a day. According to Archer County Judge Randy Jackson, the courthouse experienced a sewer leak a few weeks back and Brian’s Plumbing has been on site since to complete repairs to the line.
