The Archer County Commissioner’s Court approved a disaster declaration during a special called meeting on Monday, May 5 after it was declared by County Judge Randy Jackson on Wednesday, April 30. The disaster declaration reads that the county has suffered widespread or severe damage, injury or loss of life of property resulting from excessive rainfall and/or flooding.

The Windthorst Trojanettes’ underdog softball season came to an end on Friday, May 2, losing to the Whitewright Lady Tigers in the Area round of the playoffs. The young Trojanettes exhausted all efforts in both games, even nearly completing the comeback in Game 2.

Windthorst ISD voters have decided a new School Board Trustee Place 5 with the results of the May 3 election now posted. Jody Clay Conrady received 124 votes (51.67%) to defeat Nicole Schroeder in a closely contested race to earn the seat.

Paralea Reed, age 78, of Archer City peacefully entered Heaven on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Wichita Falls. Services will be held at 10 a.m.
