Archer City High School hosted their annual Wildcat Classic Basketball tournament over the weekend. This three-day tournament features the boys’ and girls’ teams from different classifications all across the area as well as usually including all the boys’ and girls’ teams of Archer City, Windthorst, ad Holliday.

Archer County as a whole had one of the best volleyball seasons in recent memory. For the first time since the 2018-2019 season, all three schools advanced past the Area round of the playoffs.

We have an exciting update to share from the Salvation Army- Archer City Unit: All the Angels have been selected from the Angel Tree. Monetary donations for pajamas, Bibles, and children's needs throughout the year are being accepted at the Archer Public Library through December 16th.

The Old West became notorious for the violence that befell communities and individuals. Some individuals, however, acted as peacemakers. Jesse Chisolm, a merchant who developed a network of trading posts from Texas up to Kansas, became known for his mediation efforts and his efforts to expand commerce in the area. He was never wealthy, but his reputation as a guide, translator, diplomat, trader, and explorer gave him an important role in shaping the West. His most lasting legacy was creating the legendary Chisolm Trail, which became a vital pipeline for the famous cattle drives of the late nineteenth century.

The Windthorst ISD school board approved a resolution exchanging .38 acres of district owned land for .32 of land owned by Chuck and Mitzi Veitenheimer during its meeting on Monday, Dec. 8.

The filing deadline has passed for the March primaries and Archer County is already set to see three contested races and at least five new elected officials. Filing for the March primaries opened Nov.

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court voted to place the county into a 60 day burn ban and place a temporary fireworks ban during its meeting on Monday, Dec. 8.
