Services will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, August 20, 2026, in the Archer County Rodeo Arena with Pastor Jon Curry, of Grace Community Church, officiating. Interment will follow on the West Family Property adjacent to the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home of Archer City.

Volleyball season has begun in Archer County and this weekend saw all three teams participate in tournaments hosted in Abilene and Burkburnett on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 14-15. Windthorst and Holliday competed in the 18th rendition of the annual Bev Ball Classic Tournament in Abilene.

The city of Holliday proposed a tax rate for the 2026-2027 fiscal year during its council meeting on Monday, Aug. 17.

The Sheriff’s Office has received 661 calls for service these past two weeks. As this report is being written there are 17 inmates 2 being female in the Archer County Jail.
