For the first time in program history, the Holliday Lady Eagles are headed to the state tournament.

Needing to win two games on Saturday to keep the season alive, Holliday showed up when it mattered most, taking down Jacksboro 10-3 and 4-0 to win the 3A Region I Final in Graham on Saturday, May 29.

County purchases new camera system for jail

The Archer County Commissioner’s Court awarded a bid for a new camera and control system for the jail to Sustainable Security Solutions during its meeting Monday, May 24. The county had received two bids during its previous meeting with one from Sustainable Security Solutions for $297,451 and another from Cornerstone Control Systems for $545,561.

Hometown Gardener

Last week I finally saw new growth at the base of my “green cloud” Texas sage. Long awaited. Now I am waiting to see something on my favorite “heavenly cloud” by the garden gate here at the house. I am reminded that the older, larger trees and shrubs take longer to rejuvenate than the youngsters. My “Lynn’s legacy” Texas sage retained most of its leaves through the winter storm named Uri. It was totally protected under the snow during the coldest days. Just planted last year.

St. Mary's monument dedication

St. Mary’s Christian Mothers Society celebrated the dedication of the Ten Commandments/The Beatitudes Monument on April 25. Gail Schroeder gave a brief history of the St. Mary’s Christian Mother’s Society and Father Michael Moloney dedicated and blessed the Monument. Thank you to everyone who supported and donated to make this special project come to life.
