It was a dark night in New YoThe month of March 1836 began with high hopes and idealism for Texas forces trying to free themselves from Mexico, but a string of military disasters pushed the Texas army to the edge of collapse. In the midst of these losses, one of the darkest incidents of the war occurred as more than 400 prisoners were executed at Goliad.

The Sheriff’s Office received 71 calls for service in this last week. As this report is being written there were 20 inmates two being female in the Archer County Jail.

So I just got back from the live and in person 2021 Arts Alive Home and Garden Expo. I was so happy they decided to do this one in spite of the you-now-what virus. All the vendors I talked with said they did OK. Some did very well. Especially those selling hand crafted items and food stuff. The salsa booth was hot-to-go with folks standing in line. The spirit and enthusiasm was still there. This show has always been so important to so many who live in our communities. Thanks to all the Arts Council staff, volunteers, and Smith’s Gardentown for making the right decision.
