The Holliday Lady Eagles (7-3) registered their fourthstraight win on Friday, Sept. 4, defeating Eastland in straight sets, 3-0 (25-12, 25- 16, 25-17).
Don’t let the 3-0 score fool you. Holliday needed every point in a sweep of Archer City on the road Tuesday, Sept. 1. The Lady Eagles held on for a 30-28, 25-19, 28-26 win over the Lady Cats to sweep both Archer City and Windthorst in the county rivalry.
Sophomore quarterback Peyton Marchand corralled the high-snap, faked the dive and went off-tackle to the right before breaking the plane of the goal line on Holliday’s twopoint play with 21 seconds remaining to give the Eagles a miraculous come-from-behind victory over Eastland.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers were attempting to locate a reported reckless driver headed west on U.S. 82 Saturday, Sept. 5, when a trooper found the vehicle driving west in the eastbound lanes. He attempted to stop the vehicle when it crashed into the DPS vehicle approximatelty one mile west of Hwy. 25. The driver was suspected to be intocxicated and claimed to have COVID-19. The city of Scotland is hosting a Mark on the Park fundraiser to add engraved bricks in the sidewalk at Scotland City Park. According to a press release, the city will be placing an order for the bricks by Friday, September 18.
